About My Gallery Work...(and me)

I am a Scottish artist living and working in Perthshire. I paint mostly with acrylics but also dabble in pastel, pen work and watercolour My work has been described as quirky, unusual and different which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your perspective. I like to take well known places and add my own slant to them, while still keeping them recognizable . I exhibit in galleries throughout Scotland, though my work has been commissioned as far as Australia and the USA.

General stuff...

I am a self-taught painter...a dangerous confession in the world of art! I found my love of interesting and imaginative artwork was present from an early age, namely from album covers and storybooks, especially the creations of artists such as Rodney Matthews and Roger Dean.
Although I have a special liking for working in the slightly twisted style, I also happily take on traditional commissions
(see Traditional/Wildlife link above).

Past commissions have included houses, pets and portraits, caricatures, murals, illustrative work and signage...there have been other even more obscure requests so pretty much anything goes. I have also just done a selection of drawings for Simon Howie Foods newly packaged range, so my work stares back at me every time I am in Tescos! ( see right)
